Market & Taxes
Tax estimate = metal benchmark × (1 + customs) × (1 + GST/VAT). Currency changes select a suggested market; you can change the destination separately. Overrides apply to this market and metal. Clear inputs to restore defaults.

How this price is calculated
- Metal benchmark
- —
- + Customs duty
- —
- + GST / VAT
- —
These three amounts add up to the price above. Customs is an estimated component of the imported metal benchmark, not a second charge to add to a dealer's already duty-inclusive quote.

Metal Price History

Current gold, silver, platinum and copper benchmarks are fetched from Gold API. Gold API's published terms permit public website and commercial use. Gold, silver and platinum history comes from Standard Bullion's indicative dealer feed, credited visibly as required. These are separate feeds, so chart endpoints may differ from the current quote. They are indicative prices, not guaranteed executable retail or exchange quotes. Active pages refresh quotes every 30 seconds and history every five minutes; hidden pages pause refresh. FX updates daily. Each quote shows its actual provider timestamp.
Copper charts contain only observations collected while this page is open, retained in this browser where storage is available. They have gaps while the page is closed and are not a complete 24-hour, 7-day or monthly market history. No Yahoo or Fincept data is fetched by this release. No keys, paid subscriptions or laptop data server are needed.
India standard gold and silver imports use 15% total customs duty (10% BCD + 5% AIDC), platinum 15.4% (10% + 5.4%), then 3% GST. Copper uses 18% GST; customs depends on exact classification and origin. Preferential imports, passenger allowances, premiums, freight and making charges need separate treatment.
UAE qualifying investment gold, silver and platinum of at least 99% purity in globally tradable bullion form have zero VAT; other products use 5%. The Dubai integrated customs tariff lists 0% for gold, silver and platinum bullion (7106, 7108, 7110), 5% for jewellery (7113) and 5% for refined copper (7403). UK and EU investment gold bars at least 99.5% pure qualify for VAT exemption; silver, platinum, copper and lower-purity gold do not share that exemption. UK standard VAT is 20%. EU national rates and US state taxes require your destination-specific input.
Prices with incomplete tax settings are explicitly shown before local taxes. Customs overrides represent the total effective border levies for the chosen product and import route. The hero breakdown shows benchmark + customs + GST/VAT per selected unit. Optional calculator premium and making percentages use duty-inclusive metal content as their base; fixed making charges apply to the entire purchase. GST/VAT applies to the total of metal, customs, premium and making charges for this single-product estimate. India consumer jewellery GST is 3% of the transaction value including making charges, per CBIC's jewellery FAQ. Separate job-work, service invoices, freight and stones are outside this model. Do not add estimated customs again to a dealer's already duty-inclusive local price.
Your currency, weight unit, destination, product form, metal, calculator weight and purity preferences are saved locally in this browser when storage is available. No preference is sent to our server. Tax overrides are not retained between visits, so a past override does not silently replace current defaults. Optional charges start at zero.
Gold, silver and platinum are normalized as USD per troy ounce (31.1034768 g). Copper HG is interpreted using the COMEX convention of USD per pound (453.59237 g); Gold API's public response does not itself include a weight-unit field, so the copper conversion is an assumption to confirm with the provider. History never overwrites the current quote. Invalid or unavailable data is not replaced with zero. This utility uses no tracking; it saves copper observations locally in your browser.
